Cross River State (The People's Paradise)

Where We Are

Cross River State is situated in the South-South geopolitical zone named after the Cross River, which passes through the state. Located in the Niger Delta, it shares boundaries with Benue State to the north, Ebonyi and Abia States to the west, Cameroon Republic to the east and to the south by Akwa-Ibom and the Atlantic Ocean. The state is administratively divided into 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) divided into three (3) senatorial zones. From the national population census of 2006, the projected population of the State is estimated to be 3,438, 030 for 2012 with a population growth rate of 4.4%. It has “the people’s paradise” as its state slogan.

Quality of Care (QoC) initiative was launched in March 2023 with eight facilities but has been expanded to 22 healthcare facilities.

Facts and Achievements

Following the launch of this initiative in the state, QoC the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the state (Calabar Municipality) was inaugurated at the General Hospital Calabar on he 14th of April, 2023.

The Akamkpa LGA QoC TWG was also inaugurated on 31st May 2023, by the Permanent Secretary Cross River State Ministry of Health, who was ably represented by Director Public Health and disease control, Dr. Jonah Offor.
